We recently met the knitting group at Four Seasons Café in Bathurst Park, Lydney. Gloucestershire.

in early February 26 we were contacted by HVOSS, one of our collection points in Hereford, to collect some black bags. 15 back bags had been donated without a name – only message ‘they were from the Forest of Dean’. Each bag was full of knitted ‘fish and chip’ jumpers and attached hats. We started to put them on the Teddy Bears. Luckily after emptying several bags we found a message with contact details.

We therefore explored further and visited the Four Seasons Café on a Thursday morning to be welcomed by a group of knitters.  We have still not been able to establish how the jumpers reached Hereford, but at least we have met some of the knitters.   We have not counted precisely but apparently the 15 bags contained about 500 ‘jumper and hat’ sets in brightly coloured wool.

Further collaboration might involve the group diversifying the style of the jumpers or collecting Teddy Bears.
