For several years people in Kingsland have taken part in a competition to decide who can grow the heaviest potato in a grow bag. Hinton’s Country and Garden sponsored the grow bags and Vaughan Farms donated the potatoes which were given out in May.
The Grand Weigh-in was held on Monday 26th August, 6 pm at The Angel Inn, Kingsland. Bernard Riley won the adult category with a potato weight of 6lbs 7 oz. His name will be engraved on the Silver Spade which he can keep for 12 months.
Miss Marve McKery won the children’s category, showing the adults how to do it with a top weight of 7 lbs. Any profit will benefit the Teddy Trust this year
